Resumen
El texto original del estudio, en el idioma en que se publicó.
Short video addiction has emerged as a significant issue, particularly among adolescents and young adults. While much research has explored the impacts of these addictions, particularly those linked to technological features or devices, have not been thoroughly examined. The dynamic interaction between individuals and the technologies driving short video consumption remains unclear. This study sought to address this gap by using network analysis to map the relationships between various short video characteristics and personal characteristics, all in relation to short video addiction among 2822 Chinese youth participants. The findings revealed that the flow experience, escapism, and mood modification were central elements in the development of addiction. These factors were identified as pivotal in the network structure and play a crucial role in reinforcing the cycle of addiction. Furthermore, the analysis showed that mood modification and withdrawal had particularly strong indicators, suggesting their potential as early signs of a progressing addiction. Interestingly, the network structure at the level of specific symptoms did not reveal any significant gender-based differences, with both male and female participants displaying consistent patterns. This study offers valuable insights into the interconnectedness of short video addiction symptoms, which could inform targeted clinical interventions in the future.
